Ron, this really resonates. I think you've identified something that extends well beyond Gen Z.

Access to mentorship has always depended, in part, on who you know and the networks you're fortunate enough to have.

But what about the person who's first? First in their family to attend college, first to enter the corporate world, first to become a manager, or first to navigate an unfamiliar career challenge?

That's what led me to build CareerJig. A place where you don't need to know the right person to ask the right question.

I think the future of mentoring starts with making experience more accessible, not just making mentorship more structured.

It's all about Mentoring Moments now. No scope for any mentorship as such !

Excellent piece Ron. You are so right. I have a few mentees in that demographic and how I mentor them is not how I was mentored.

Thanks!

Tell me: what's the biggest change you see in mentoring from your experience?

Sorry just seeing this. Believe it or not I use astrology to customize my advice to them. Generic stuff just does not work. Thankfully I am pretty good at reading birth charts in astrology which helps a lot. And don’t knock astrology unless you get a birth chart reading :) It’s 10 years of therapy in an hour.

OMG. I love astrology. Seriously.

We have even more in common than I thought :) For some of my PR clients, I do a reading for them, and then we build a campaign around their natural strengths. It's very cool.
